If anyone needs to buy raspberry pi 3+ he or she has to meet a cyclist so that she can take admission for class

some as paperweight… some as dust collector… ;)
i have more RPis as i really can use.

is somebody looking for old RPi(1) (rev. 1, with 256MB RAM and cinch analog video composite connector?)

It's Bob avatar

I am :) I use mine as a simple BASIC computer.

what want you to pay for one?

Actually, I am using mine as a development workstation. I have Code:Blocks with GTK+ libraries for making the UI, and AVR toolset for the controller. I use an inexpensive programmer from AdaFruit to load the firmware. Then I am using KiCad for circuit design. Super inexpensive solution for any startup.

4 RP’s (2 & 3B+) manage our solar collector, the pool + filtering and heat-exchanger, garden lighting, boilers, guest list and billing, agenda, weather station + measurement of CO, NOx and dust particles. One of them is managing our central heating (wood stove) and measure the chimney and water temperatures + switches pumps (inclusive floorheating) and does some recirculation of energy when central heating is off but our private rire place is firing. Then we have an (intranet) dashboard that show all the measurements, valves, pumps, temperatures and YTD results etc. In the summer the solar collector heats the pool and in the winter our house that goes fully autonomous ( energy stove and/or collector). More projects are in the pipeline. Like an old fashion beacon for our guest to help them crossing the street safely, next year we will attach solar panels to power the system…. really the sky is the limit.

Wow, you have really found good use cases in your house. I just bought my first RP and looking for ideas what to use it for. Did you program all the applications yourself?

I have a box of 5 Pi Zero, most with wifi, most from my ongoing MagPi subscription.

Pi 3b+ used as a general desktop.

Pi 2b+ with the HiFiBerry+DAC which I was lucky enough to win via MagPi, running my music now, with Volumio. Most useful as my CD player finally died so I rip CDs on my Linux laptop, scp over wifi to the Pi and play them. Brilliant.

Pi 2b with Raspi-Duino for occasional Arduino programming.

Pi 1B, original from 2012, 256 Mb RAM, runs MotionEyes.

I’ve also got the Naturebytes camera case ready tobe setup and used with one of the above.

Getting a Pi 4 from Satan,if I’m good. ;-)

Cheers,
Norm.

Well, for the Pi I use everyday, I have:
– A Pi 2 with LibreElec as a media player.
– A Pi 2 as a print server running 24/7 since years (and never had any SD card corruption)
– A Pi 3B with 2 Pi Zero + camera used as a dual baby monitor, that streams on my local network 24/7 for almost one year now (page of project : https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=230819 )

I also have a lot of spare Pi of many models used from time to time for experiments.

There are plenty more answers to this question over here, including one from me:

Pi3 running LightshowPi for christmas
Pi2 running my wordpress site for the christmas show and controls the show via site and cron jobs (runs 24/7 for 2 years now)
Pi1A+ as a paper weight now. Used to have a website and was used for Scratch fun.

Pi2 with the official touch screen. I almost don’t use it, except for few build with Yocto and very few tests.

My friends at the British Amateur Television Club use Pis at the centre of their TV transmitters and receivers, including home systems that can transmit moving pictures and sound via satellite to about a third of the world’s surface. My own Pis mainly serve as test targets for my X-Ray and thermal imaging experiments.

I used it as an AP for the 3DS, but the service is droped :(

Second use is to update firmware of USB devices. The Zadig driver for Win is a p.i.t.a. The DFU driver of Raspbian works like a charm.

If I find some time, I will use it to learn how to use the coral TPU for more stuff than classify the example parrot.

At work I used one for data collecting.

Pi3B spare along with 2 Pi1B’s sitting doing nothing at the moment.

At work..
Pi2B displaying CCTV feeds from 3 cameras plus a live feed from Pi Camera and backup Postgres database server.
Pi3B+ running production Postgres database.

50-100 RPI 3 B+ – Working as gateway controlers with touchscreens, 2D scanners, relays boards, POS 80 printers and biometric readers.
2 RPI 3 B+ – For a WIM, also controlling some lights and sensor for trucks.
5 RPI 3 B+ – Working to show between 2 and 4 Ip cameras
At Home:

I use it for Octoprint (3-Printing), 1time-Developing-Stacks, small jobs around the house :-) Until now, 7 of this little boys are doing their jobs. hopefully, one of the 4.gen by christmas :-D

I use a Pi Zero to control a 1950 Rittenhouse 4 chime doorbell. The original solinoid / hydraulic timer failed 40 years ago. The Pi via a Python script senses a doorbell push then activates 4 relays to energerize the solinoids that strike the chimes.

Mike Wedderburn avatar

I use one RPI 3+ for ADS-B fed into Flightradar24.
I have another RPI3+ running RetroPi.
Two RPI minis used for GPS track loggers (One mounted to my motorcycle and the other with large lipo battery for portable use.)
I have the third mini mounted inside a Picade (?) game control .
I’m trying to come up with a reason to buy the RPI 4… :)

Arthur Thynne avatar

I use 1 Rpi 3B as a general Desktop Computer. I stream Amateur Radio via WebSDR/hf only globally and feed into Multipsk on my laptop to decode many modes of Data. I use the SDR via Twente University in Holland. Also VHF SDR in Farnham UK.

Anders avatar

I set them up as little copies of my hosting environment to do dev and test. I’m getting kubernetes involved now.
