How can I get a Raspberry Pi 5 before everyone else?

It’s exciting, isn’t it? So exciting, in fact, that we’ve come up with a few ways you can make sure that you are one of the very first people to get a Raspberry Pi 5. We have a special thing for people who can visit the Raspberry Pi Store in Cambridge, plus ANOTHER special thing for subscribers to The MagPi and HackSpace magazines.

Made in the UK, but shipping worldwide by the end of October

Reserve your Raspberry Pi 5 in store

Anyone visiting the Raspberry Pi Store in Cambridge, from today until Raspberry Pi 5 goes on sale in late October, can reserve a 4GB or 8GB variant of our latest board. All you need to do is visit the reservation kiosk in store, tap in a few details, and your shiny new computer will be ready for collection on a date and time slot of your choice from late October onwards.

the newly refurbed raspberry pi store

You can also get hands-on with Raspberry Pi 5 in the store from today. Go along and have a play with one of the demo units on display.

To make sure that everyone who visits the store can reserve a board, we’re limiting reservations to one per customer — you can choose either the 4GB or the 8GB variant, but you can’t reserve one of each.

The store will have very limited unreserved stock on the day Raspberry Pi 5 goes on sale too, so people who weren’t able to visit ahead of time to reserve a Raspberry Pi 5 might still be able to visit us and pick one up in person.

Priority Boarding for magazine subscribers

Want to get Raspberry Pi 5 sent to you in the first week of release? With Priority Boarding, you can pre-order your Raspberry Pi 5 (4 GB or 8 GB) and it’ll get sent out at the front of the shipping queue.

Raspberry Pi has set aside thousands of Raspberry Pi 5 computers for The MagPi and HackSpace print subscribers to buy. We’ve enough for everybody who subscribes to The MagPi or HackSpace magazine.

If you already have a print subscription to The MagPi or HackSpace magazine, we’ll have your email address, and we’ll send each of you a unique code over the next few days. Click the link in the email and it will take you to a site where you can pre-order and pay for your Raspberry Pi 5. Customers in the US and Canada will be directed to The Pi Shop, while customers in the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world will be directed to The Pi Hut.

New subscribers to The MagPi and HackSpace will get a Priority Boarding code when they sign up. So don’t delay — take out a subscription today. You’ll be able to buy your Raspberry Pi 5 first and to top it off you’ll get incredible Raspberry Pi tutorials, projects, and community events every month.

If neither of these options work for you, you can look up the Approved Resellers in your country, and see if they are offering a pre-ordering service for Rapsberry Pi 5.

Sad, no pi store in northeast USA.

Anthony R. King avatar

Would they not ship to the North East?

Steve avatar

preorder from pishop.us

Mark Tomlin avatar

> Raspberry Pi has set aside thousands of Raspberry Pi 5 computers.
I don’t think thousands is going to be enough.

Reggie Thomson avatar

I’ve just ordered mine here in the Raspberry Pi Store in Cambridge, and typing this comment on an rpi5 there.

Ashley Whittaker avatar

Rafael Muniz avatar

These will be about as hard to get as the PlayStation 5 when they first came out.

Steve avatar

Not really.. you can preorder these NOW

Anthony R. King avatar

Hi Ashley. I get the impression that new subscribers get priority over existing subscribers. If that’s not the case, may I recommend you clarify the article?

Ashley Whittaker avatar

Nope, nooooooot at all. Treated the same. Existing subscribers better even, as they should already have their codes!

Mark Tomlin avatar

Do you have an ETA when the new subscribers will be getting their code? Slightly worried that I won’t make the first batch at this rate given that the PiShop.us is showing a delivery date of December 2023 already.

Liz Upton avatar

Priority Boarding allocations are separate from retailers’ other Raspberry Pi 5 allocations, so you don’t have anything to worry about there.

Chad avatar

I’m a new subscriber and received my coded within 48 business hours of subscribing. I preordered with priority boarding yesterday.

MitchB avatar

I subscribed to hack space specifically for this offer 2 weeks ago but have not received my code. When are they expecting to send them out?

Ashley Whittaker avatar

Did you check your spam? People have been getting them inside of 48 hours from announcement day.

Amir Khakestani avatar

WoW!!!
Congats…
I was wondering when it will be available online?
PS. Does RPi active cooler is compatible RPi 5 original case?

Jeff Geerling avatar

Yes! If you pop out the fan bracket in the new Pi 5 case, the Active cooler runs quite nicely inside, I had no issues. The case airflow is a tiny bit worse but the fan and heatsink on the Active Cooler make up for it and keep it slightly cooler in my testing.

Dalpaka avatar

Hey Jeff love the good content, keep up!
I’m subscribed by the way (youtube: @DalpakaNBA)

Amir Khakestani avatar

Thank you Jeff!

Jainil Prajapati avatar

Ashley look at me 💢😠

Ashley Whittaker avatar

A 52 year old person told me what this means only last week. Shame on me for not being abreast of TikTok trends…

Raymond McCloud avatar

So excited!! Just subscribed to Hack Space!:) About how long do the codes take to get emailed out?

Liz Upton avatar

You should have it within 48 hours.

David Smith avatar

What should we do if we haven’t received the code within 48 hours of subscription?

Liz Upton avatar

Check your spam folder!

David Smith avatar

I’ve been checking regularly. Got a subscription confirmation about 24 hours out but no discount code in inbox or spam.

Malcolm avatar

what if it is not in there?

Chad avatar

I received mine 48 business hours afterwards. I had to wait the weekend but I received mine.

Niklas Altekamp avatar

Unfortunately the Europe and US power supplies are sold out. Is there a chance of those reappearing?

Liz Upton avatar

Yes! They’re under constant production right now and will be making a reappearance soon.

JSW avatar

It would be very nice if something like this could be done here in the States!

Liz Upton avatar

Please read the post again: this offer is also available to you in the USA.

Malcolm avatar

Also can we have a Raspberry Pi store in AU/NZ?

Robert Zwemer avatar

Does a 6 month subscription count for a Priority Boarding code?

Ashley Whittaker avatar

YES! And the free Pico W offer still stands as WELL as Priority Boarding so it’s a double whammy of goodness for new subscribers.

Robert Zwemer avatar

Thank You, excited to check out the Raspberry Pi 5, really happy with the Raspberry Pi 4B.

Tracy Christenbery avatar

I subscribed to The MagPi yesterday morning and I still have not received a priority code. But, I did get my subscription confirmation email this morning.

Rick B avatar

Digikey and Mouser both have thousands on order.

Ashley Whittaker avatar

Did you get one?

Jagath avatar

Does anyone know how to order the power supply and get the os find Pi5?

Ashley Whittaker avatar

Those things will be ready for purchase/release by the time Pi 5 is on general sale towards the end of October.

Niklas Altekamp avatar

The EU and US power supplies alone seem to be treated differently from everything else (pre-order vs notify me) so it’s currently impossible to enter a complete mainland EU order (say RP5 + case + 27W power supply) using the magpi code. There might be a very good reason for this (committed vs non-committed supply or similar). Thanks to all of you for answering questions so patiently.

Congratulations on the new Pi launch!! 🎉🥧
I have a few of questions that I haven’t seen answered elsewhere yet (apologies if I’ve missed an obvious FAQ).
1. With the Priority Boarding codes, how many Pi 5s can you preorder from the Pi Hut? Is it three (one normal preorder, one HackSpace Priority Boarding code, one MagPi Priority Boarding code), two (normal preorder + Priority Boarding preorder OR each magazine subscription entitles you to a preorder but you can’t have a normal preorder as well), or one (“one preorder per customer” whether you use Priority Boarding or not and that’s that)?
2. Is using the official case, the active cooler, and the M.2 HAT at the same time a planned possible combination? I realise the HAT isn’t final yet so this answer can’t be authoritative. And how about adding the PoE HAT into that mix? 😃
3. Is there any news on CM4 availability improving? (and big congrats for getting everything else back into stock while also building a new board… can’t imagine the few years you folks have had!)

Lisa avatar

Is the priority offer valid for subscribers of the MagPi German Edition? In the hyperlink I can only see the English issue.

Pete avatar

pi shop us updated shipping on the 8gb to be “after December.” So I guess I can live with my 4b a while longer. I’ll wait until in stock in retail channels by maybe…April?
Great reviews though so good job!

John Winter avatar

Been a magpi subscriber for a number of years now… I’ve been checking my emails for a code and have not yet received one. Who should I contact for support on this?

Mo avatar

I subscribed to the Hack Space but have not received a link… I haven’t found anywhere to ask someone for help on this… Anyone know who to ask for the link? I subscribed Oct 13th, 12-days ago…. And yes, I’ve checked all over gmail for it… lol.. I can’t wait!

Thanks, M0

I’ve got the email address you used for this comment, so I’ve passed it on to the Hackspace team. If it’s not the address you used to sign up, could you please email me at liz[at]raspberrypi[dot]com?

David King avatar

I reached out to the office as I am a subscriber to Hackspace, printined version, as I never saw a cade arrive in my email and asked them to send it. Still no code.

Liz Upton avatar

I’ve passed your name and the email address you associated with this comment on to the Hackspace team – a few people have had problems because they mistyped their email address when they subscribed. If there’s something that looks right we’ll be in touch!
